Position Overview

Hammehr invites applications for a full-time, permanent Business Analyst role on behalf of our client.

Our client is a Western Canadian IT consulting and managed services firm that helps organizations solve business problems through technology. As a Business Analyst, you'll work directly with clients to understand how their businesses operate, identify what needs to change, and define the requirements that guide technical solutions.

In this role, you'll work with external clients to investigate their underlying business problem, examine how processes and technologies interact, and determine what information, decisions, and prerequisites are needed before technical work begins. You'll need enough technical understanding to recognize dependencies, question assumptions, and work through solution options with engineers and architects.

Working across multiple client engagements, you'll lead discovery conversations, analyze business processes, document requirements, and stay involved as solutions move through design and delivery. You'll work closely with technical consultants, project managers, and client stakeholders, reporting to the Director, Client Solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead discovery workshops with business and technical stakeholders to understand operational challenges, clarify objectives, and establish what a proposed solution needs to accomplish
  • Investigate how existing business processes, applications, data, and technology systems interact, identifying gaps, dependencies, and constraints that could affect a solution
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements, separating confirmed needs from preferences, assumptions, and unresolved decisions
  • Map current-state and future-state processes, identifying opportunities to improve workflows, automate activities, strengthen controls, or change how information moves between systems
  • Work with Solutions Engineers, Architects, and Consultants to evaluate technical prerequisites and ensure proposed designs address the client's business requirements
  • Define acceptance criteria, dependencies, decision points, and responsibilities, preparing clear handoffs for project managers and technical delivery teams
  • Support client projects involving Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, automation, business intelligence, AI, cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure technologies
  • Maintain alignment between business requirements and implementation outcomes, clarifying requirements and assessing the implications of changes during delivery

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, process analysis, technology consulting, or related business technology projects
  • Experience leading stakeholder discovery sessions, translating business problems into documented requirements, and clarifying decisions with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Practical experience with business process mapping, current-state and future-state analysis, acceptance criteria, and delivery documentation
  • Sufficient technical understanding to investigate how business applications, systems, data, workflows, and security requirements interact, and to discuss solution dependencies with technical specialists
  • Authorization to work in Canada, professional English communication skills, a valid driver's licence, access to a vehicle, and availability for occasional business travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering business analysis across multiple clients or technology consulting engagements, particularly where requirements and operating environments differ
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, Power BI, workflow automation, or related enterprise productivity technologies
  • Experience analyzing business requirements for cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity and access management, or system integration initiatives
  • Experience documenting data flows, governance requirements, operational controls, or technical prerequisites that affect solution design and implementation
  • Familiarity with business process modelling, diagramming, requirements management, and project documentation tools

The Challenges

  • You'll work across organizations with different systems, processes, stakeholders, and levels of technical maturity. Each engagement requires learning enough about the business and its technology to define requirements accurately
  • Clients may describe the solution they want without fully identifying the problem, technical dependencies, or operating changes involved. You'll need to investigate those details and clarify unresolved decisions before delivery proceeds
  • Client priorities, technical constraints, and solution designs can change after initial discovery. You'll need to maintain accurate documentation, coordinate with several delivery teams, and balance competing client deadlines. Occasional after-hours availability may be required

Your Impact

  • Clients have a clearer understanding of their business requirements, existing process limitations, and the technical and operational decisions needed to move forward
  • Architects, Engineers, and delivery teams receive more complete requirements, defined acceptance criteria, and identified dependencies, reducing avoidable rework and misunderstandings
  • Technology solutions are better aligned with how clients actually operate, with clearer responsibilities, stronger delivery readiness, and fewer unresolved requirements carried into implementation
